Claw Fishing Fish Index

Welcome to the Claw Fishing fish index — the wiki bestiary for Claw Fishing by Smoothly Sailing. This hub catalogs fish by rarity band, habitat depth, and aquarium role so you know what you clawed before deciding keep, sell, or swap. Claw Fishing is not a traditional rod simulator: you drive a boat, lower a mechanical claw, and deposit catches in an aquarium where they generate passive money. Fish names and exact spawn tables can change when Smoothly Sailing patches — cross-check the Updates hub after every major release.

How to use this index

Use three companion pages together:

  1. This hub — rarity overview and habitat notes
  2. Fish Tier List — S–D keep priorities
  3. Upgrade Priority — gear needed to reach each band

Mechanics deep dives live in Getting Started, Rare & Legendary Fish, and Whale Shark.

Rarity bands at a glance

Claw Fishing follows a climbing rarity ladder from harbor commons to deep legendaries. Exact species counts expand with updates.

For keep-or-sell rules, always defer to the Fish Tier List — this index describes what fish are, not whether a specific slot beats your current occupant.

Common and uncommon fish

Common species swarm starter zones where claw reach is short and tsunami risk is low. They teach timing but should not occupy late-game aquarium slots. Grind commons only until you afford first claw reach upgrades from Upgrade Priority.

Uncommon fish appear slightly farther out — often the first catches that feel “worth keeping” to new players. Treat them as temporary slot fillers (C tier) until rare schools become reliable. See Aquarium & Money for when to stop instant-selling.

Rare fish

Rare bands mark the mid-game transition: deeper travel, longer claw drops, and more competition in six-player servers. Rare fish split into lower rare (B tier) and high rare (A tier) depending on passive income and re-catch difficulty.

Hunting rares without tsunami discipline wastes time — you lose deck catches when warnings appear. Rare routes also assume basic boat speed upgrades; slow harbor trips cap attempts per session.

Legendary fish

Legendary fish drive Claw Fishing clips and community hunts — including legendary catch sessions recorded by creators in deep water. Legendaries demand:

  • Extended claw reach
  • Stable controls for moving schools
  • Abort rules when tsunami cues trigger

Once caught, legendaries belong in aquarium S-tier slots unless you duplicate a better keeper. Never sell your first legendary for a cosmetic boat skin.

Special targets: Whale Shark

The Whale Shark is the most cited endgame target in community guides. It behaves as a special deep-water catch — large hitbox, high aquarium value, and unforgiving claw timing. Read the dedicated Whale Shark guide for route planning; use this index to place it in the special targets row mentally alongside legendaries.

Habitat and depth notes

Fish spawn relative to harbor distance and water depth, not arbitrary map names:

  • Shallow harbor ring — commons and uncommons; safe learning zone
  • Mid channels — rare schools; first tsunami exposure
  • Deep open water — legendaries and Whale Shark routes; max claw reach

Boat positioning matters as much as rarity. Align the claw center over schools — see Controls if misses pile up.

Aquarium placement quick rules

  • Slot the highest band you catch until slots fill
  • Swap weak occupants using the Money Rate Tool when unsure
  • Collect money on a schedule; idle caps hurt all bands
  • Replace — do not stack — duplicate low bands when rares are available

Future species and patches

Smoothly Sailing launched Claw Fishing in April 2026 and continues adding fish, events, and balance tweaks. When patch notes mention new species:

  1. Check the Updates hub
  2. Re-read the Fish Tier List for band shifts
  3. Update your aquarium using Upgrade Priority if new depths require reach

This index grows with the game. Sub-pages for individual species may appear when the roster is large enough to warrant dedicated spawn guides.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers players ask while claw fishing on Roblox.

What is the Claw Fishing fish index?

A bestiary hub listing fish by rarity band, habitat depth, and aquarium role — paired with the Fish Tier List for keep-or-sell calls.

Where do legendary fish spawn in Claw Fishing?

Deep open water far from harbor, where claw reach and boat speed meet upgrade thresholds. See Rare & Legendary Fish and Tsunami Survival guides.

Is the Whale Shark a legendary?

Community treats it as a special endgame target with S-tier aquarium value. Hunt it only with endgame claw reach and escape planning.

Should I keep uncommon fish?

Briefly if slots are empty. Replace them quickly when rare or legendary catches appear — see the Fish Tier List.

How do I know when new fish are added?

Watch the Updates hub after Smoothly Sailing patches. We refresh tier and index pages when spawn tables change.
